When you need it
We handle all the palms you see around town:
- Coconut palms: de-nutting and frond cleaning, or full removal
- Foxtail and royal palms that have grown too tall near the house
- Cocos (queen) palms, which are messy and drop a lot
- Golden cane clumps that have taken over a corner of the yard
- Palm stump grinding once the palm's down
How we do it
For de-nutting we climb or use gear to reach the crown, take off the coconuts and dead fronds, and lower them down. For removals, small palms come down in one go if there's room. Tall ones near the house are taken down from the top in sections and rigged, because a royal palm trunk is heavier than it looks.
Palms don't have the big root systems of rain trees or figs, so they're usually quicker jobs. The stump can be ground out so you can replant or turf the spot.

Townsville-specific considerations
Coconut palms handle wind well, but the coconuts become missiles in a cyclone. Falling nuts are a real hazard over driveways, cars and play areas all year round. Getting them de-nutted before November is one of the cheapest bits of cyclone prep you can do.
What it costs
Palm removal usually runs $300 to $1,300. De-nutting and frond cleaning is quoted per palm, and it's cheaper when we do a few at once.
| Job | Typical Townsville price (inc GST) |
|---|---|
| Palm tree removal | $300 – $1,300 |
| Coconut de-nutting / frond clean | Quoted per palm, cheaper when we do a few |
| Stump grinding: small stump (under 30cm) | $160 – $330 |
These are ballpark ranges. See the full Townsville tree removal price guide for what pushes a price up or down, or check our FAQs.
