When you need it
A stump is more than an eyesore in Townsville:
- Dead stumps attract white ants, and they don't stop at the stump
- They trip people up and get in the way of the mower
- Some species sprout back from the stump
- You need the ground level for a slab, shed, pavers or turf
How we do it
We bring a stump grinder that chews the stump into chips, going 200 to 300mm below ground level. We can grind surface roots too, so you're not left with lumps in the lawn.
We've got a narrow-access grinder that fits through most side gates, so even a stump out the back isn't a problem. Afterwards the grindings can be left as mulch to fill the hole, or we'll take them away.
Townsville-specific considerations
White ants are a real worry for Townsville houses, and an old stump near the house is a welcome mat for them. Grinding it out removes the food source. Our clay soils also mean the hole can settle a bit after the wet, so we'll tell you whether to top it up with soil before turfing.
What it costs
Small stumps under 30cm across usually cost $160 to $330, medium ones $270 to $550, and large stumps over 60cm $430 to about $1,000. A few stumps in one visit works out cheaper each.
